A drawer that slides open
A drawer box pairs a rigid outer case with a tray that slides out, so the product is presented as it is drawn open. It suits gift sets, cosmetics, jewellery and accessories where the reveal is part of the experience.
Construction and finishing
The standard build wraps 157 g art paper over 1,200 g cardboard, with the tray fitted to your product. Printing runs in CMYK or Pantone, and the surface can be matte or gloss laminated, with hot foil, emboss or deboss and spot UV as options. A ribbon or finger pull can be added, and interior inserts are available in foam, EVA, paper, blister.
Why a drawer box jams
The sleeve and the tray are wrapped separately, so the gap between them is a decision rather than a default. Too tight and the paper drags on the sides; too loose and the tray rocks in the hand. The gap is set from the board thickness — 157 g art paper over 1,200 g grey board adds close to 2 mm on each side — plus a running clearance that is only settled on the sample.
Board also moves with the weather. A tray that slides freely in a humid month can bind in a dry one, so the clearance is set for the climate the order ships to rather than for the workshop. Send the product size, the tray depth and how far the tray should pull out, and the two parts are cut as a pair.
